A typical implant consists of a titanium screw with a roughened or smooth surface.
It is a surgical procedure where the specialist numbs the area with a local anaesthetic then takes an incision at the missing tooth area.
With a special motor he drills a hole into the bone carefully without harming the adjacent soft tissue.
Then an implant is placed and it may be secured by sutures.
Then after one month another part of the screw known as the abutment is attached.
After the attachment a prosthesis is fabricated and fitted to the implant. |
